More Soap Scoop

Keep these in mind for long-lasting soap

  • Let your soap dry between uses.  Soap dishes where water drains away are best.
  • Store extra soap where it can breathe.  A closet shelf works well.  Our soap continues curing throughout its lifetime.
  • When you first receive your soap it may have a layer of white residue, or soda ash.  This layer is a sign of authentically handmade soap and is purely aesthetic (we decided not to add additional ingredients just to prevent this ash from forming).  Don't worry, It will wash harmlessly away after the first use.

what does each ingredient do?

  • Olive oil and lard - our base oils, giving rise to our Garden and Farm bars
  • Coconut oil - lather enhancing-oil
  • Castor oil - another lather booster
  • Essential oil - natural fragrance additive
  • Oatmeal - finely ground oatmeal helps the bars lather quickly, while also scrubbing your skin
  • Coffee grounds - finely ground coffee beans for a more exfoliating bar
  • Activated charcoal - super fine powdered charcoal from coconut husks to absorb impurities
  • Water - for mixing with the sodium hydroxide or lye
  • Sodium hydroxide - also known as lye, it reacts with the oils to create soap and glycerin, a natural moisturizer. We only use food grade.
